Hyderabad: Two-day International Seminar on "Goods and Services Tax, Recent Developments, Opportunities and Challenges" has been organized by St. Ann's College and TICCI at Hyderabad on 27th and 28th January 2017. The Seminar was marked by the gracious presence of a galaxy of eminent tax-experts, government representatives, academicians, corporate heads and professionals from India and abroad. The seminar unfolded with an Inaugural Function, a Valedictory Function and four Technical Sessions in all, over the course of two days. The seminar shed light upon various aspects of GST system.
Dr. Manjula D. Hosmani IRS (Additional Commissioner CBEC) was the Chief Guest while Shri Jeeva Sagar IFS (Ministry of External Affairs, GOI) attended the seminar as the Special Guest. Shri Debendranath Panda (Judicial Member from Chennai) delivered the key-note address. TICCI President Mr Ersin Karaoglan, Prof. R.K Mishra (Director IPE), Mr. CS. Venkata Ramana, (Chairman ICSI), Prof.Jeyapalan Kasipillai, (from Monash Uninversity Malaysia), TICCI Regional Director Mr.Yavuz Kotan, TICCI Hyderabad Director Mr. Oguz Canbolat, Prof. Laxman Gaddam (Dean Faculty of Commerce, OU), Prof. S.V Satyanarayana (HOD of Commerce Dept. OU) Prof. Nageshvar Roa (Dean Faculty of Bus.Management,OU) Dr. Sr. Suman Ignatius (Provincial Superior CSSA) and other prominent dignitaries attended the Inaugural Session of the seminar.
The Inaugural Session was followed by Technical Session I, in which Shri Chiranjib Das, Kolkata gave an overview of GST law. Technical Session II discussed the global perspective of GST. Prof Jeyapalan Kasipillai, Malaysia and Mr. Jason Piper from UK talked on the specific top.
A vibrant Panel Discussion on “Preparedness of Stakeholders on GST Implementation” was the highlight of the first day. It was followed by Paper Presentations. Technical Session III and IV discussed “GST-Implications” and “International Experiences” respectively on second day of the seminar.
